투표는 나의 무기

 

                              박노해

 

 

권력도 지위도 없는 나는

그래도 그 하나가 있지

때마다 선거권이 있지

 

투표는 나의 무기

 

투표는 심판이다

투표는 투자이다

투표는 명령이다

 

한번 당선되면 임기 내내

우리 일상에서 작동하는

권력은 무서운 기계

 

나의 투표는 이런 자를 쳐낸다

 

무능

부패

특권

 

투표는 나의 무기

 

내게 주어진 그 힘을 써라

쓰지 않는 힘을 저들의 것이 되어

오만과 군림으로 돌아올 테니

저는 사전투표로 국민의 짐을 덜어내는데 일조했습니다.

친일, 군사독재, 부정부패 세력에 따끔한 일침이 놓아지길 기대합니다.

Though I have neither power nor position,

I still have that one thing—

the right to vote, which comes with each election.

 

Voting is my weapon.

 

Voting is judgment.

Voting is investment.

Voting is an order.

 

Once elected, for the duration of the term,

the power that operates in our daily lives

is a fearsome machine.

 

My vote casts out such people:

 

Incompetence.

Corruption.

Privilege.

 

Voting is my weapon.

 

Use the power given to you.

The power you do not use becomes theirs,

returning to us as arrogance and tyranny.
