무슨 일을 하지?

그걸 바라보기 좋아하는 사람,

허구한 날 봐도 나날이 좋아

가슴이 고만 푸르게 푸르게 두근거리는

 

그런 사람 땅에 뿌리내려 마지않게 하고

몸에 온몸에 수액 오르게 하고

하늘로 높은 데로 오르게 하고

둥글고 둥글어 탄력의 샘!

 

하늘에도 땅에도 우리들 가슴에도

들리지 나무들아 날이면 날마다

첫사랑 두근두근 팽팡하는 기운을!

What do the trees of the world do?

A person who likes to watch them,

who likes them day by day even if watching them all the time,

making one's heart keep beating green and green—

 

Making such a person never stop taking root in the earth,

making sap rise all over the body,

making it rise high toward the sky,

round and round, a fountain of resilience!

 

Can you hear it in the sky, on the earth, and in our hearts,

oh trees! The energy of first love, beating and springing up day after day!
