무를 먹지 않고 놔 뒀더니

무에서 순이 자란다

무는 동물만 먹는 줄 알았는데

공기도 먹는 것이다

 

무 속에서 시간이 자라오른다

시간을 잘라 김치를 담근다

시간이 뱃속에서 소비되어

다시 시간을 배출한다

 

시간을 공기가 먹는다

공기는 여러 가지로 포식한다

무를 먹지 않고 놔 뒀더니

순은 자라고 무는 썩었다

 

시간은 여러 가지로 포식한다

먹는 소리에 잠을 잘 수 없다

시간은 잠까지도 먹는가

시간은 자라고 잠은 썩었다

I left a radish uneaten,

And sprouts began to grow from it.

I thought only animals ate,

But it turns out the radish eats air too.

 

Time grows up from within the radish.

I slice time to make kimchi.

Time is consumed inside the belly,

Then time is excreted once more.

 

The air eats time.

The air feasts in various ways.

Because I left the radish uneaten,

The sprouts grew while the radish rotted.

 

Time feasts in various ways.

The sound of its eating keeps me from sleep.

Does time even devour sleep?

Time grew, and sleep rotted.
