사랑의 시차

 

                         최영미

 

 

내가 밤일 때 그는 낮이었다

그가 낮일 때 나는 컴컴한 밤이었다

 

그것이 우리 죄의 전부였지

 

나의 아침이 너의 밤을 용서 못하고

너의 밤이 나의 오후를 참지 못하고

 

피로를 모르는 젊은 태양에 눈멀어

제 몸이 까맣게 타들어가는 줄도 모르고

맨발로 선창가를 서성이며 백야의 황혼을 잡으려 했다

 

내 마음 한켠에 외로이 떠 있던 백조는

여름이 지나도 떠나지 않고

 

기다리지 않아도 꽃이 피고 꽃이 지고

그리고 가을, 그리고 겨울,

 

곁에 두고도 가고 오지 못했던

너와 나, 면벽(面壁)한 두 세상.

아무 일도 없었던 하루가 가장 기억에 남는 하루가 되기도 합니다.

When I was night, he was day.

When he was day, I was the pitch-dark night.

 

That was the entirety of our sin.

 

My morning could not forgive your night,

And your night could not bear my afternoon.

 

Blinded by the young, tireless sun,

We didn't even notice our own bodies burning to a cinder,

Wandering barefoot along the pier, trying to grasp the twilight of the white night.

 

The swan that floated alone in a corner of my heart

Did not depart even after summer passed.

 

Flowers bloomed and fell without waiting,

And then autumn, and then winter.

 

You and I, two worlds facing a wall,

Who, though side by side, could neither go nor come to one another.
