가을은 그냥 주는데

 

                           박노해

 

 

가을 아침에

마을 산길을 걷다 보면

왠지 미안해지는 마음

 

발갛게 익은 산감이랑 능금이

알알이 달린 머루와 다래가

이슬에 빛나는 구절초와 산국화가

주홍빛 꽈리와 보랏빛 좀작살이

토옥 톡 떨어지는 알밤과 도토리가

 

여기요, 나 여기요

긴 여름 불볕과 장마를 지나

이렇게 힘껏 잘 익어 나왔는데

나 어떡할 거냐고, 날 버려둘 거냐고

햇살에 반짝반짝 나를 바라본다

 

그냥 내어주는 가을의 선물을

나는 다 받아주지도 못하고

그냥 지나쳐 돌아오는 길은

꼭 잘못한 것만 같아서

 

이 가을, 그대와 함께 걸으며

주머니 가득 담아 안고 내려와

그리운 벗들에게 나눠주면 좋겠는데

Autumn Just Gives 

 

                                            Park No-hae

 

 

Walking along the village mountain path

on an autumn morning,

somehow my heart feels apologetic.

 

Wild apples and crabapples ripening red,

wild grapes and tara vine hanging in clusters,

chrysanthemums and wild mums shining in the dew,

bright orange Chinese lantern plants and violet beautyberries,

chestnuts and acorns dropping with a plop—

 

Here I am, look at me here.

Having survived the scorching summer sun and long monsoons,

I've ripened with all my might;

what are you going to do with me, will you leave me behind?

They gleam in the sunlight, looking at me.

 

Not even able to fully receive the gifts of autumn so freely given,

the way back after just passing them by feels as though

I've done something wrong.

 

This autumn, I wish I could walk with you,

gather them full in my pockets,

and come down to share them with my longing friends.
