단추를 채워보니 알겠다

세상이 잘 채워지지 않는다는 걸

단추를 채우는 일이

단추만의 일이 아니라는 걸

단추를 채워보니 알겠다

잘못 채운 첫 단추, 첫 연애, 첫 결혼, 첫 실패

누구에겐가 잘못하고

절하는 밤

잘못 채운 단추가

잘못을 깨운다

그래, 그래 산다는 건

옷에 매달린 단추의 구멍 찾기 같은 것이야

단추를 채워보니 알겠다

단추도 잘못 채워지기 쉽다는 걸

옷 한 벌 입기도 힘들다는 걸

The first button wrongly fastened, the first love, the first marriage, the first failure.

Hurting someone,

And bowing my head in the night.

A wrongly fastened button

Awakens the realization of wrong.

Yes, yes, living is

Like searching for the buttonhole on one's clothes.

I learned this as I fastened the button,

That buttons too can be fastened wrongly, easily.

That it's hard even to put on a single set of clothes.
