처음 가는 길

아무도 가지 않은 길은 없다

다만 내가 처음 가는 길일 뿐이다

누구도 앞서 가지 않은 길은 없다

오랫동안 가지 않은 길이 있을 뿐이다

두려워 마라 두려워하였지만

많은 이들이 결국 이 길을 갔다

죽음도 이르는 길조차도

자기 전생애를 끌고 넘은 이들이 있다

순탄하기만 한 길은 길 아니다

낯설고 절박한 세계에 닿아서 길인 것이다

The Path taken for the first time

There is no path untrodden by anyone.

It is merely a path I am taking for the first time.

There is no path where no one has gone before.

There are only paths that have not been traveled for a long time.

Do not be afraid. Though they, too, were afraid,

many have taken this path in the end.

Even the very path leading to death—

there are those who have crossed it,

dragging their entire lives along.

A path that is only smooth is not a true path.

It is a path because it reaches a strange and desperate world.
