7월의 시

 

                        이해인

 

 

7월은 나에게

치자꽃 향기를 들고 옵니다

하얗게 피었다가, 질 때는 고요히

노랗게 떨어지는 꽃은

지면서도 울지 않는 것처럼 보이지만

사실은 아무도 모르게 

눈물 흘리는 것일 테지요

 

세상에 살아있는 동안만이라도

내가 모든 사람들을

꽃을 만나듯이 대할 수 있다면

그가 지닌 향기를

처음 발견한 날의 기쁨을 되새기며

설렐 수 있다면, 어쩌면 마지막으로

그 향기를 맡을지 모른다고 생각하고

조금 더 사랑할 수 있다면

우리 삶 자체가

하나의 꽃밭이 될테지요

 

7월의 편지 대신

하얀 치자꽃 한송이 당신께 보내는 오늘

내 마음의 향기도 받으시고

조그만 사랑을 많이 만들어

향기로운 나날 되십시오

July Poem
 
                        Lee Haein
 
 
July comes to me
with the scent of gardenias
that bloom white, and then fall silent
when they lose, and then fall yellow, and then seem not to cry
when they lose, but
in truth they are shedding 
tears without anyone knowing.
 
If only for as long as I am alive in this world
I could treat every person
as I would a flower, if only I could smell
his scent and be excited
by it, reliving the joy of the day I first discovered it, 
thinking that maybe I'll smell it
for the last time, and love it a little more, 
then our lives themselves would be
one flower garden.
 
In place of July's letter,
a single white gardenia flower is sending you today
Receive the fragrance of my heart as well
Make lots of little love
and have a fragrant day
