내가 만난 사람은 모두 아름다웠다

잎 넓은 저녁으로 가기 위해서는

이웃들이 더 따뜻해져야 한다

초승달을 데리고 온 밤이 우체부처럼

대문을 두드리는 소리를 듣기 위해서는

채소처럼 푸른 손으로 하루를 씻어놓아야 한다

이 세상에 살고 싶어서 별을 쳐다보고

이 세상에 살고 싶어서 별 같은 약속도 한다

이슬 속으로 어둠이 걸어 들어갈 때

하루는 또 한번의 작별이 된다

꽃송이가 뚝뚝 떨어지며 완성하는 이별

그런 이별은 숭고하다

사람들의 이별도 저러할 때

하루는 들판처럼 부유하고

한 해는 강물처럼 넉넉하다

내가 읽은 책은 모두 아름다웠다

내가 만난 사람도 모두 아름다웠다

나는 낙화만큼 희고 깨끗한 발로

하루를 건너가고 싶다

떨어져서도 향기로운 꽃잎의 말로

내 아는 사람에게

상추잎 같은 편지를 보내고 싶다

To head toward a broad-leafed evening,

Our neighbors must become warmer.

To hear the sound of the night, bringing the crescent moon,

Knocking on the gate like a postman,

One must wash the day with hands as green as vegetables.

Because I want to live in this world, I gaze at the stars;

Because I want to live in this world, I make star-like promises.

When darkness walks into the dew, The day becomes yet another farewell.

A parting completed as flower blossoms fall one by one—

Such a parting is sublime.

When the partings of people are like that,

A day is as wealthy as a field,

And a year is as generous as a river.

Every book I read was beautiful.

Everyone I met was beautiful.

I want to cross the day with feet As white and clean as fallen blossoms.

With the words of a petal, fragrant even after falling,

I want to send a letter like a lettuce leaf To those I know.
