어느 비 오는 날에

어느 비 오는 날에
바다 옆 오솔길을 거닐기로 약속을 했습니다
두 주 후 팔분의 육 박자 음표를 단 비가
노래처럼 쏟아져 길을 나섰습니다

해안도로 따라 코스모스에 일일이 인사한
바다 옆 오솔길
파도가 창문을 여는 레스토랑 2층에 앉아
헤이즐넛향에 녹는 사랑의 기쁨을 마시면서
여자는 해초를 따서 건네는데
남자는 자꾸 소나무 같은 말을 합니다

얼마 후 신비한 빛깔로 둘러싼
소나무 옆 바다 앞에 섰습니다
일을 손에 물고 사는 남자에게
가끔 바다에 나와 마음을 비우고
자연에 몸을 맡기라고 했습니다
그래서 쉬어 갈 언덕을 만들어 달라고
남자에게 쉼표를 끊어 주었습니다

어느 비 오는 날에
여자는 마침표를 가슴에 찍고
남자는 물음표를 손에 쥐고 돌아옵니다

쉼표가 없으면 호흡이 곤란하기 마련입니다.

On a Rainy Day

One rainy day,

we promised to walk along the path by the sea.

Two weeks later, rain carrying 6/8 time signature notes poured down like a song,

so I set out.

 

Along the coastal road,

greeting each cosmos flower, the path by the sea.

Sitting on the second floor of a restaurant where waves open the windows,

drinking the joy of love melting into the scent of hazelnut,

the woman picks seaweed and hands it over,

but the man keeps speaking words like a pine tree.

 

After a while,

we stood before the sea beside the pines,

enveloped in a mysterious hue.

To the man who lives with work in his hands,

I said, sometimes come to the sea, empty your heart,

and surrender your body to nature.

So I asked him to build a hill to rest upon,

and cut out a comma for him.

 

One rainy day,

the woman marks a period in her heart,

and the man returns, holding a question mark in his hand.
