아침

 

                         김상현

 

 

구두를 신으며

내 발을 감싸주는 가죽을 내어 준

어린 송아지를 생각한다

 

그의 눈망울처럼 구두를

맑게 닦고 나서면

아침은 푸른 생먕이 움터오는

풀밭 같은 세상

 

하루를 걷고 걸어

내가 만난 사람들과 꽃들과

오월의 잡목숲길에까지

감사하면서도

진정 내 발을 편케한

어린 송아지를 잊고 산 나날들

 

구두를 신으며

내 발을 감싸주는 순한 눈빛의

어린 송아지를 생각한다.

Morning

As I put on my shoes,

I think of the young calf that gave its hide

to wrap around my feet.

 

After polishing my shoes

to be as clear as its eyes,

the morning becomes a world like a meadow,

where blue life begins to sprout.

 

Walking and walking all day,

thankful for the people, the flowers,

and even the woodland path of May,

I spent so many days forgetting the young calf

that truly made my feet comfortable.

 

As I put on my shoes,

I think of the young calf, with its gentle eyes,

that wraps around my feet.
